On January 26, 2021, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) signed the Agreement on Cooperation. The ceremony was held in the Hall of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The ceremony was attended by President and Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev, Vice President and Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Yuri Balega, and Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Malenko.
The Rossotrudnichestvo delegation was led by the Agency’s head, Yevgeny Primakov.
Alexander Sergeev delivered a welcome address to the audience in which he noted that the collaboration between the Russian Academy of Sciences and Rossotrudnichestvo would make it possible to implement academic projects in science and technology with greater efficiency, which is one of the key objectives of the Academy in its international cooperation.
In his speech, Yevgeny Primakov praised the hard work that had gone into finalizing the Agreement and suggested that the parties should strive to go beyond the tasks that currently face them to promote Russian science internationally.
The parties agreed to prepare draft a roadmap for the implementation of the Agreement in the medium term during the first three months of this year.
