On February 9, 2021, the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan met in Moscow for its 17 th session.
The event was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk and Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Qohir Rasulzoda.
At the meeting, the Commission learnt about the preparations of the Russian Academy of Sciences for the International Forum of Young Scientists from the CIS, the Baltic States and Georgia, which will be held this coming November as part of a series of events marking the 300 th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The academies of sciences of the two countries were thus tasked with getting members of the Tajikistani academic community involved in the Forum. The Ministry for Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) will provide support in this work.
In addition, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan (NAST) agreed to organize a meeting between the plenipotentiaries of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan during the first six months of 2021 at the Pamir-Chakaltay International Scientific Research Center. The Russian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan also agreed to hold a meeting during the first half of 2021 on interaction on environmental and water resources management issues to be attended by representatives of the relevant governmental bodies from Russia and Tajikistan.
