Yuri Balega, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RAS Academician, held a working meeting at the Russian Academy of Sciences with the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the Russian Federation Antti Helanterä

On May 27, 2021, in the Hall of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Yuri Balega, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the RAS, held a working meeting with Antti Helanterä, the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the Russian Federation.

The meeting was also attended by Sergey Malenko, the Head of the RAS International Cooperation Department, and Sari Eriksson, the Advisor for Higher Education and Science at the Embassy of Finland in the Russian Federation.

The parties noted the long and effective history of the Russian-Finnish international ties including interactions on space research, medicine, Earth sciences, history, archaeology, environmental issues and climate change, marine research and the Arctic, culture and history of the Northern peoples; they also expressed willingness to develop new cooperation formats, including collaboration via bilateral projects, international programs, and within the framework of the Research and Pedagogical Faculty International Academic Mobility Program which is currently under development at the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The parties discussed issues in cooperation and the signing of a new agreement between the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Finnish Academy of Sciences and developing a detailed road map for the agreement.
