RAS and Rossotrudnichestvo Planned a Series of Events to Popularize Science

TASS reports that the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) signed a roadmap for holding a series of education, scientific and technological events abroad intended, among other things, to promote the achievements of the Russian science, as the RAS spokesperson told TASS.

“The RAS and Rossotrudnichestvo signed a roadmap for holding a series of education, scientific and technological events abroad intended, among other things, to promote the achievements of the Russian science. The four-year-long roadmap includes academic conferences, forums, series of lectures and master classes, summer and winter scientific schools, exhibitions, and other events,” the announcement says.

These events will involve scientists from Russian and foreign academic and educational institutions, young scientist councils, associations of Russian-speaking scientists and alumni of Russian and Soviet universities living abroad. Preparations are currently underway for one such event in particular, the International Young Scientist Forum of the CIS, the Baltic states, and Georgia.

RAS Vice President Yuri Balega noted that new initiatives spearheaded by Russian scientists and supported by Rossotrudnichestvo will allow Russia to expand the number of partners in scientific and scientific and technological cooperation.

“The Young Scientist Forum of the CIS will become a major event that, under the RAS’ auspices, shall assemble hundreds of scientists every year to discuss issues related to global challenges, sustainable development. We hope our foreign partners will take considerable part in such events,” Balega said.

The RAS Vice President added that the Academy’s joint work with Rossotrudnichestvo will attract the general public’s attention to the celebrations of the RAS tercentennial coming up in 2024. This anniversary will be marked, in particular, by a Global Academic and Educational Forum to be held in St. Petersburg.
