Working meeting of the leaderships of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe

On October 19, 2021, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Academician Alexei Khokhlov met with Prof. Luciano Saso, President of the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe (UNICA), via video conference. The working meeting was also attended by Sergey Malenko, Head of the RAS Department for International Cooperation.

The meeting focused on models for cooperation between scientific institutions and universities, as well as between the RAS and UNICA.

An agreement was reached to hold a joint conference in February 2022 under the title «Research and Innovation Ecosystems: Models of Cooperation between Research Institutions and Universities». The participants also discussed signing a memorandum of understanding between the organizations.

UNICA was founded in 1990 and now consists of 54 universities from 38 European capitals, with around 200,000 faculty and over two million students.

The Russian Federation is represented at UNICA by the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Moscow State University and Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia.
